Far more weighty than the shipping cost to the purchaser is the cost in time to the seller.
It is such a hassle to pack up something large + heavy. You can't really bill the buyer for
every minute of time and every little glitch solved, mileage to the shipping point and so on.
Unless you have something to sell that's worth  in the high hundreds or more, your packing
work is kind of a charity, a kindness to a fellow hobbyist.
