MAYBE, but I wouldn't rely on it.  I've seen them beat to the point of 
splitting and still not function, the vibration may occur over weeks, 
months, or years, you just wind up with a brick in there.  I do recall 
one that just spit out about a spoon-full of powder after being banged 
repeatedly, stopped, and that was it.  As far as I could tell, it was 
just some loose powder in the tube, and below that, a solid "rod" of it 
that slammed into the valve, and that was it.
