One of my Northern Radio ( Seattle ) manuals has a note about FCC type-acceptance. I don't recall the exact date, but there was a grandfather 
clause and no-new-installations for the old equipment with only an antenna transformer, basically just a tapped coil. The date on this note
was something like late 1940s - early 1950s, so the TCS certainly would have complied with any FCC regs up til then.
