I remember when my kids were teenagers they were into car audio with the big subwoofers. To help the amplifiers, which were usually mounted in the trunk, they would add capacitor banks. The car audio market makes those big 12DC caps on the order of 1 FARAD, possibly larger. A few of those in series-parallel, would help that dynamotor. I think most dynamotors on the order of the ATD & ART-13 would have a huge starting current.  OK, now I'll have to break out my Fluke peak reading clamp-on ammeter and measure my ATD dynamotor.
