[Milsurplus] More on my "new" TCK-4

Well....quite obviously, whoever had this transmitter before I got it used it as his main
station transmitter, and from the chart on the front, primarily on MARS. I'll post the 3
frequencies listed there in case someone recognizes them.

The "conversions" done to it are very well done. In addition to the built-in power supply, and
additional control circuitry, all of which was mounted very carefully on the front panel and
correctly and perfectly labeled, it was also converted for RTTY.

In addition to a pot to control "Width" mounted on the right lower side of the front panel,
there is also a switch labeled N and R, or Normal and Reverse, an 8 "pin" Jones plug labled
RTTY input, and two phone jacks on the opposite side (left) of the front panel labled
"Relay" and "Cathode" under the word "Key", another labeled "Test" and a fourth labeled
"Lock Key".

Furthermore, each of these "modifications" has been very carefully labeled with what look
like decals, and sealed with some sort of clear varnish. This was no haphazard
slapped-together mess.

All mods are very professionally done. Whoever did them, really cared about what he was
doing.

In addition, I was wrong: ALL tubes are installed properly and are "present and accounted
for".

The rig is horribly dirty, but as far as I can tell so far, complete.

It also needs a complete paint job.

If this forum will accept a photograph, I'll post one here of the front panel.

I am very intrigued and can hardly wait to get it in operation.

The first order of business is a complete and thorough cleaning.

Ths second job will be the removal of the power supply and a thorough test and
refurbishment.

I am very glad to have this transmitter and am also grateful to Robert Downs for "pushing"
me in to buying it. Thank you, Robert.

I'll keep you all informed.
