I was working in an actual surplus store in Seattle around 1976-1979 when we received something like ten of these, apparently unused, in transit cases. I thought they
were wonderful looking, impressive quality, but for me, they were crippled by the 1 MHz limit and of scant usefulness. Howard Lembke, the bossman, used his personal
"intuition calculator" to set the price at $75 each, which struck me as too high, but they all sold, and pretty quickly too. Being in Seattle, the store's clientele was not
just bottom-feeding surplus scroungers, but probably as many or more so, engineers and technicians from Boeing and other local industry, and also people from the
U. of W. One could learn a whole lot from just listening to the conversations of the regular Saturday morning crowd.
