The AN/GRA-6 is simplicity itself. It's a remote control system that I want to use with my AN/GRC-106 but I have been running into issues. First in review, the remote control works over a field phone twisted pair. The receiver audio is transformer coupled into the C-434 and set over the service wires to the C-433 where its transformer coupled to the H-33 handset. In transmit the PTT switch on the C-433 puts a DC voltage on the service wire that in turn pulls a relay in the C-434 that keys the transmitter. The transmit audio is transformer coupled to the same service wires as the receive audio and control that also provides a side tone of the audio in the handset. The entire set up can also be used as a telephone without the DC control voltage and allowing a hand crank generator to provide the ringing voltage. This is the problem. The H-33 handsets are giving little output when used with the system. The microphone elements in the sets are powered by two 1.5 volt D cells. I have new batteries in the sets but still suffer from low output, but the same handsets when used with the transceiver work well. Would assume that I have some issue with the H-33F handsets that I am use and getting them to work well on 3 Volts DC? Were some H-33 handsets higher output then others? Or is there a better handset to work with on the remotes? And last but not least would anything be gained by replacing the two D cells with one 9 volt cell and a higher bias voltage?
