[Milsurplus] MRCA at Gilbert

Why, what happened? Pictures I saw of your events are always impressive. Think the thing that MRCA has in their favor is that the Red Ball vehicle collectors are great supporters of the MRCA group. This year there were more vendors selling in the fairgrounds then I have seen in the last several that I have been attending and there vehicle show always brings out at least two to three rows of trucks, tracks and mutts. There is always a good field of mules and at least three or four artillery items. This year there was also two tanks with one unrestored and a WW1 motorcycle that was being driven around the grounds. I almost always attend both Aberdeen in the spring and Gilbert in the fall and Aberdeen is not a bad show but have seen it shrinking a little due to weird things like bad scheduling but the Gilbert show never fails to impress, at least me.
And the quality of the displays by MRCA at Gilbert and the amount of field activities that are part of the event also never fail to impress. I do Aberdeen, Dayton and several Ham fest every year but have to say that in my opinion the MRCA/Red Ball event is the king for me, but from what I have seen of the MRCG has always driven me on with the idea if they are doing all that we got to try harder on our end just to catchup!

Our MRCG out here on the West Coast is a pale replica of what it once was… :^(

Or you can try from my web page at:

But I have been having a bunch of security issues on the server that I am using at work with off campus access. Have to move my web stuff to an offsite host but just have not gotten around to it yet.
Thanks for everyone’s work to support the operations at MRCA and the Red Ball organization, few things are as much fun as taking field or other military radios out and using them as per there original intention. And a special mention about Mr. Smith K4CHE and his most amazing skills at frequency measurement demonstrated with his well-adjusted and documented BC-221 and his mathematical skills in averaging readings to be the winner of the first MRCA frequency challenge. He produced results that exceed what I attempted to do by being accurate within cycles.
