Very interesting, good find! Looking at the pix, i doubted that this small vessel would have an actual radio operator, BUT....

for the Seattle to Alaska run, which did have hazards, you definitely would need communications, and longer range than just

harbor voice.

The names do not perfectly correspond, but given the same area of operation, the same time frame, and the correspondence

of the names, this would have to be the same ship.

I had kind of looked down on steamships' use of the IP-501A into the 1940s, but a brief lookup online shows it described as

"the R-390A of the 1920s" and worth the price of two cars originally.

I certainly have usable equipment which is older since manufacture than the IP-501A was in 1940.
