The Rickreall hamfest came off okay, altho attendance was maybe 5-10% down. The 'big blow' was a no-show with some gusting
winds only in the afternoon, nothing 80 mph, and the only people who got really wet were the early birds unloading in the early A.M.
hours.
Certainly equal to the fun of finding something you "needed" is the pleasure of talking amiably with other techno-nerds. I met this
fellow at our table who is a "tube tester collector". I didn't know there were tube tester collectors, but i really wasn't very surprised.
Anyway what he told me about an existing tube tester manufacturer, i found quite interesting. I was thinking, what the world does
NOT need at this time is a tube tester manufacturer, but then i heard - - this tube tester has a computer interface. At the push of a
button, so to speak, it graphs the tube's data curves, so you can print and hand the data to the person who is paying ( ! ) you to test
his tubes, and the machine also prints out a quality certification sticker to affix to the tube. ( I suppose the tube test technician
could also be a licensed notary public. ) The Amplitrex tester IS manufactured in the U.S. of A., LA-CA i think, and only costs around
$2800 and maybe it's $2800+. This is what i was told; the price is not published on the website
http://amplitrex.com/
maybe it's a case of "if you have to ask...."

I think i have gained a new appreciation of the 'audiophools'. I'm all for their cult interest that keeps tube technology and high voltage technology
alive. Plus, i don't anymore own anything that uses the tube numbers they worship.
