I remember seeing FM broadcast conversion articles for surplus receivers
years ago. In addition, friends and I converted BC-603s to FM broadcast
in 1966-68. Our front work wasn't the best, we removed all but three
moving plates from the tuning condensor sections and cut and tried the
coils until we could tune the stations we wanted. A local FM station
started simulcasting a top 40 AM station, so we wanted to hear it in
high fidelity in our cars. FM auto radios were expensive then, a BC-603
was easy to get for little or nothing, the biggest cost was getting 717
tubes for the front end and a 12 volt dynamotor from Fair Radio- one
Saturday of mowing lawns. It worked well enough to give many hours of fun.
