Jim,
10 nine-volt batteries will do the trick for the way you're likely
operate the set, say for 5 minutes at a time, every once in a while.
Alkaline batteries have considerable shelf life. I think the ones in my
set have been there for three years.

Of course your B+ is going to be more than 10% low, so there's a case to
the power supply that W2HX mentions, especially with the rising price of
9-volt batteries.
