JohnWhy not replace the SO-239 with an N connector? At least these have a gasket to keep water out and are a much better connector.
I wonder, is the American market the only one that still uses the "UHF" connector? What connectors are used on European and Japanese marketed equipment?Jim

Subject: [Milsurplus] JTV680 Vertical antenna SO239 connector
Having a new roof put on the house and pulled down my antennas. I had noticed that my JTV680 Vertical was not tuning correctly, and found that the SO-239 female connector was corroded. I suspect that water has gotten into the base section. Has anyone taken one of these apart? If so, can you send me an email of how you did it. Also what kind of SO-239 is on the base, bulkhead w/4 screws, or screw in style. Am not at home and want to order a new SO-239 as that definitely has to be replaced.
Thanks,
John WD5ENU
