Well, here's a chicken and egg situation....
The April 1941 issue of General Radio Experimenter introduced their new
type 774 connector which certainly appears to be the same as the Navy Type
49120/49121

But the Navy Type 49120/49121 was entered into the Navy parts supply system
8/40 for RF Distribution in BB-55 (USS North Carolina). And the RBA/RBB/RBC
production contracts are dated April 1940. Was the North Carolina the very
first installation of these? - I didn't realize that. I need to check some
serial numbers the next time I visit.
So I don't know whether GR came up with the 774 on their own and then the
Navy adopted it, or the Navy contracted with GR to develop the 49120/49121
and then GR released the 774 commercial version. I'm inclined to think the
latter....but open to persuasion.
Note - the GR 874 connector was patented, but not the 774 - so maybe it was
a Navy project.

If you do want to worry, measure the operating temperature of the transformer under long use (some hours). The greater difficulty is finding the correct cables with connectors or even just the connectors to make up your own cables.
