First opportunity I got to sit down and write up something on the Aberdeen Maryland's Military Vehicle Show. The weather was not that good, Thursday was overcast, Friday was rainy and Saturday was good but by that time some vendors had packed up and left and although the shows promoters show almost all the vendor sale spaces sold there was many open spaces between vendors with only the first two rows (A and B) being filled. I was in the very last row along with only four other vendors with maybe twenty open spaces. I did not spend much time over in the show section but did see maybe twenty vehicles in that location including jeeps of all ages from WW2 up to Vietnam, several trucks and a Unimog or two.
Most of the big name parts dealers were there and selling their wares, I did pick up several parts from a couple dealers being that they were things I needed to install on the M-151 and had the opportunity to get a discount and save on shipping.
In terms of radios there were many VRC-12 type radios and accessories, lots of antennas and brackets, power cables and the like along with a couple ART-13 transmitters for sale with dynamotors, a clean TCS receiver and lots of other ground radio equipment like BC-654 and assorted telephone stuff. I thought prices were fair for the items offered being way less then what the same stuff would sell for on EBay and no shipping was involved.
It was also good to see so many members of the MRCA present and to operate both the Thursday and Saturday net running the GRC-106 in the back of the M-151A1 That's the reason I asked for a space in the back row because there it was easy to just move the jeep back, put up the mast for the antenna and operate the net from that location. A small amount of 51.0 operations was carried out at the event but there was no formal net or set operation on that band.
