[Milsurplus] Why Germany lost the war

I’d say the class that accompanied the E52, on the Allied side, were the SX-28, RBB/RBC, and SP-200 series. Maybe the SP-200’s were

the closest? The E52 DOES look like a more sophisticated machine than these. I have not used a E52 ( altho i remember now that i have

one in the que, that needs a cabinet too. ) I am very curious as to the readout resolution of the E52, which is where i think it comes out

ahead of the SP-200, which i think is about the overall top US receiver.

Hallicrafters did have a nice package when the SX-28 was used together with a McLaughlin ‘Sideband Selector’ which gave true sideband

selection, the Hallicrafters SSR-1 i think it was, but it still didn’t have the readout of the E52 or the E52’s front panel diagnostics.
I would have to agree the E52 was (probabaly) the best communications receiver of the war years and maybe some years afterward.

The SX-28 i don’t think was very rugged, but they did make it overseas and in some ship use ( with ‘radiation suppressor’ circuit added. )

The RBB/RBC were Navy and not used in any vehicles, nor in Army or USAAF stations.

The SP-200, i have always admired the combination of crystal selectivity plus continuously variable selectivity through IF coupling.

I don’t know the British receivers well enough to comment at all on them.

The HRO i consider an almost-antiquated design by the time of the war. Very capable though for their use and easy to repair.
