(Also posted to Boatanchors; please forgive the re-post!)

Folks,

Like many of you, I have too many projects and too little time. I've had a
clutch of three Hallicrafters SX-73 (R-274) receivers sitting in my shack
for some years. These very nice, and somewhat uncommon, radios deserved
better than just sitting around collecting dust!

So, I'm offering them for sale as a group--one has been 95% restored and is
nearly complete, but will require a bit of finishing off before it's ready
to use. There are two others that have been partly dis-assembled, but
appear complete otherwise, and are ready for restoration. The front panels
for both of the un-restored radios have been cleaned, repainted and
re-screened.

See photos at:

Asking $600 for the lot, including all parts, panels, and extras. If
interested, please read further for details and get back to me by email to
discuss delivery or pickup options (e.g., delivery to Dayton in May).

-----

The restored radio was a project of my friend Tom Warren, who died a few
years back. Tom had very nearly completed this radio, including complete
dis-assembly and cleaning, *complete* dis-assembly, cleaning and re-lube of
the tuning capacitors, replacement of the front-panel toggles, and much
more. Tom died before he could complete the last 5% of the project..
please know that Tom was a meticulous restorer, so what has been done to
this point was done very well indeed! This radio is nearly ready to play.

There are two re-finished front panels. One of them is a darker gray and
is the twin of the one on the restored radio. Tom and I found a local
paint company and screen artist to do these, and they turned out really
well! The second refinished panel is lighter in color, but I believe this
light-gray was correct for some models of the R-274/SX-73. This one was
done by Walt Novinger, and it, too, looks very nice. I have bags of
parts--knobs, dials, hardware, you name it. I can also help the buyer with
restoration parts, if need be.

The two unrestored radios appear to be complete, except for the top=cover
sheet metal. I'm 90% sure I'll located it shortly, but haven't yet.

I'll also include an original manual for either the MIL or commercial
version (they are identical in all respects except for front-panel tags).

Thanks for looking!
