[Milsurplus] Super Pros at La Guardia 1945 ?

FM and Television magazine for July 1945 on page 96 has a Hammarlund ad
showing Super Pro receivers in a line 

at CAA installation at La Guardia airport. There are 7 operators in a single
line; each has a typewriter in front and

two Super Pro receivers in front of him and mounted so the tuning dials are
approx at eye level.  My question is,

I don't think La Guardia had that many HF working frequencies, so why this
many HF channel operators?
