Maybe this was an "old wives tale" but I heard many years ago (and I'm 66) that the term "CQ" was just a simple shorthand expression for "Seek You". Maybe that was one of those abbreviations like "BCNU" for "Be Seein' You" in the beginning, which then fell into common accepted usage ... Mike, WB0LDJ
