I count about 19 notes ( will i ever forget it, ha ha ha ) so we must be thinking about the same, more properly called "riff"
than "melody".  I don't recall the clicking; i mostly recall being puzzled about the regional characteristics of the riff and
trying to reckon its general source from that. 
I was using a Lafayette KT-200 then, with an adaptor to use a 6EH7 in the RF. I see them go for pretty surprising prices now,
but i honestly have no interest at all in owning another, because i don't respect the tuning mechanism and dial display.
( Styled like a larger, better built S-38. ) i would much rather my father have given me a BC-348 or RAO or something 
like that, something with a quality build.
I'm glad i finally learned, sort of, "the rest of the story".  Who would have thought?
