[Milsurplus] Any idea what this is???

Looks like a military or militarized version or maybe a ruggedized version
of a W.E. test set, maybe a No. 47.  I have one in storage right now

awaiting disassembly. That will be the second one i have disassembled. The
harvest is only the 4 small keys, which have long retaining screws

and will require some sort of wooden base to be made. The key buttons are
inscribed with numbers 1 thru 4 but this can probably be painted 

in. The actual button plastic material is kind of fragile and chips easily.
These keys get sold as "spy keys"  ( this said with a smile ) for something

like $20 - 35 each. I'm sure some example of this test set exist in Bell
Pioneer or other museums so i feel no compunction about taking them

apart.  The slider coil assembly looks nice but it is actually resistance
wire, used as a potentiometer, so other than looking wonderful this 

component has no practical use.  So other than the keys there's really
nothing to harvest in the set. And as for display, in a general interest

museum, i think its eye-attractiveness is about zero, probably eliciting
remarks like, "Uh, okay".  On the other hand, it may be worth keeping

together, moreso than for some paltry money for the keys.  Next time i'm up
at the storage i'll take a look and see if i'm right about the 

test set number.  The standard telco model has a more "landscape" format.
