[Milsurplus] [ARC5] Boatanchor Ennui: Is He Wrong?

Oh, I think I ran into him in "high level" tech support in the 2 days I had
Comcast internet.
Service installed, but I found that while I had "alright" upload speed (~1
mbit/sec on a 20 mbit service), the download speed was unusable at under 100
bits/sec. Yes, BITS per second. After the usual first and second level tech
support games (unplug, wait 5 minutes, plug back in, that kind of time wasting),
I got through to their third level tech support. After duly listening to my
report on specifically what I've done and what tests I've performed, their
"engineer" happily announced he has diagnosed my problem. He said I must remove
the coax going from the wall to my cable modem and swap it end for end. He said
this was the obvious solution because in normal systems the download speed is
faster then upload. He got very angry when I asked if he was actually serious.
At that point I cancelled my service (well, it ended up taking 3 months to
cancel, along with help from the CA PUC, but that's just Comcast business bullshit).
