I have always considered the RAL to be the finest HF TRF receiver ever built. I used one for 
12 years as my only station receiver and absolutely loved it. Still do.

The RAK is also top-notch. Its RF selectivity is absolutely superb, achieving "single-signal" 
selectivity over its entire range: the "other side of zero beat" simply doesn't exist.

There has been considerable experiementation by a dedicated group of experimenter at both 
472 KHz and at 137 KHz. The RAK works very well at either.

It is also excellent for "dx-ing" the NDBs.
