[Milsurplus] [ARC5] OT A BIT....What Do You Solder With?--Thanks All

Hi Don:

It all depends on what you're soldering.

When looking into SMT I found that I could solder 1/2 and 1/4 pitch ICs by hand.
The two factors are the power of the iron AND it's thermal capacity. So a lower wattage larger tip iron can do a better
job on parts that a very fine tip higher wattage iron.
Photos of my 40, 60 and 200 Watt irons.

Although I have a hot air rework station, it almost never gets used.
