[Milsurplus] DY-85 dynamotor?

Hey guys,

I have a bit of unknown kit here that came from my great uncle's shop.
It's faceplate says its a DY-85/VRC-2X.  I have no idea what set it belongs
to and can't seem to find much about it on the web.  ID plate says 24v at 8A
in, 600v at .175A out.  5200 rpm.  Anyone know what it was used for?
