If you remove the roller inductor and look at the way the contact bar with the roller wheel is mounted, you will see that there are spring mounts on the ends of the bar that develop some "slop." The wheel will actually lose contact with the coil in spots. Use needle nose or hemostats to *gently" bend the spring mounts down just a hair to fix it. Put pressure between the spring mount flang and the nut holding it; *never* against the ceramic, which will crack like an egg shell if you do. I have worked on three TCS transmitters and they all had this problem. 73 DE Dave AB5S
