I'm working on a presentation for the Antique Radio Charlotte conference at the end of March.

The subject is the history of batteries used in electrical forms of communications from the 1830s onwards.

I'm now up to WW-II.... I know virtually nothing about the usage of batteries in the military hardware of the day.

Outside of the SCR-536 type handy-talkies and, I presume, some flavor of man-pack sets; were there other RX/TX that consumed significant quantities of batteries?   i.e. What battery powered outfits got heavy usage in the field throughout the war?
