[Milsurplus] Maybe the Good Old Days Weren't

Nick, Thanks for posting the Columbia catalog.  I used to visit them almost weekly on my rounds of the LA surplus stores including J.J. Glass, the Highway Co., and others on Pico Blvd and Santa Monica Blvd.  Still more in Pasadena, Compton and Costa Mesa.

Notice the many items that say PUR (Price Upon Request).  I went in there to buy a GRR-5 once and they wouldn't even quote a price at that time.  Apparently they were exporting much of the stuff.
