  I think the Hallicrafters TR-9 postdates 1971. I don't know who used 
them; there weren't many made apparently, anyway.
Kind of a solid state GRC-9; the 3 freq bands are the same; power level 
similar.

Yes.  My set with the PNSCLA First Quarter 1970 stickers also have D&R 
NORIS 2/66 REP. stickers, plus a FEB 23 1959 white paint stamp on the 
RT-427.  It's an anachronism, AM in the 1960s.  I doubt there are many 
mil/gov sets afterwards that incorporated MF/HF AM transmission.  The 
1971 AVCO TAR-224A is the only thing that comes to mind at this moment.
