Many years ago, I received a brand-new DAG-1 from AFMARS. I REALLY, 
REALLY wish I still had it. :-(

The sense antenna was a standard rod antenna with a large banana plug 
soldered to the end.

Perhaps you can fabricate an identical one, although the rubber rain-shield 
would be somewhat hard to find.

I found the receiver to be very sensitive and very quiet. It had a very 
"transparent" sound and feel to it. However, with the BFO on, it was not 
particularly mechanically-stable. I think the BFO itself was the unstable 
element.

It also worked very well as a DF.

Mine even came with the snap-in compass which is normally mounted in the 
loop. It also came with all the spare parts.

I have no idea where it went, and I have regretted losing it for many, many 
years.
