Perhaps it's was an opportunity to provide the USMC the same drift and snapping levers that the Navy valued? It looks as if it did not get far beyond the prototype and field test though.

FrostFest is coming!

Subject: [Milsurplus] AN/MRR-2 receiver video - rare prototype

This is the USMC mobile/transportable version of the AN/SRR-12 with waterproof case and optional 24vdc or 115vac p/s. The AN/SRR-12 is the MF variant of the better-known AN/SRR-13 HF receiver.

I have corresponded some with this fellow. I need to scan the MRR-2 section of the NAVSHIPS 92286 manual that I have,

I have never heard of another existing MRR-2 or of an MRR-1 LF version or MRR-3 HF version. This one is XN-1. It could be they were prototypes only.
