That was my understanding. Yes.

In addition, the Germans had their Metox radar detecting warning receiver in submarines. 
But some very imaginative Allied airman who was captured by the Germans convinced them 
that Allied airplanes were homing in on the Metox's LO, so many German sub captains 
turned it off. In actual fact, the reason our aircraft were finding and killing subs was 
microwave radar.
