You are of course addressing the second part of my statement. 
If you have seen any photo of a U.S. WWII sub showing the RBO installed, or
a reference in any account, i would appreciate 

the citation, for my own education. 

I had wondered a lot about that Hallicrafters S-40 type radio on the SS-287
Bowfin at Honolulu. But i read that the ship

was decommissioned in 1947, the recommissioned in 1951 and served until
1971. That allows a lot of post-WW2 time

for that radio to be installed.

URR-13 is of course not a simple 1:1 replacement item, by itself, for ARC-4
or SCR-522.

I do not believe the 2x RBO are original to WW2 outfit, regardless of the
production date of the actual receivers.
