Was looking at the use instruction manual for this IFF and see that the
function of the

"Emergency" switch is not explained. Manual sez to refer to Communications
Officer-In-Charge

"for details concerning the use of the emergency switch".   I would guess it
probably sends

some distress signal, but why is the manual so coy about it?

Well, actually, the instruction manual does not even say anything like
"IFF".
