[Milsurplus] "Rare" Gear

Do you suppose the Navy has in its archives "somewhere" such manuals, as say
GO-4 or GP-2? Or even a maintenance manual for

the AN/ARQ-1 ?

After all, they seem to have some pretty obscure stuff, such as recordings
of sonobuoy detected sounds from WW2 ASW episodes.

If they really do not have these manuals, that is a damn major shame.

The AN/TRC-2 figure comes from that list of Sig Corps radios we discussed
here 2-3 years back. Yes, i was surprised too; and from this

figure and Rauland's ads, and one veteran'sketchy remembrance, i'd surmise
the TRC-2 was developed especially for jungle use

in CBI.

I have a TRC-2 and a couple of the receiver vibrator supplies. I had another
TRC-2 in high school, back when Lincoln was president,

but it disappeared, of course. I think i read on G503 group that someone
there had a TRC-2 also. Good luck on finding accessories.

I call these ueber-rare categories, "X-rare" and "extinct". I didn't think
i had anything at all in "X-rare", but i suddenly remembered

i have an ME-1 and an MBM. Probably a pretty low production count on both. I
don't have the ME-1 manual, only a MB manual,

but as it's the same radio except for freq range, it suffices. ( I noted the
MB is still in the Navy WW2 catalog. I'd be amazed if it was

in fact used that late - the receiver tubes are 915's, peanut tubes.
