Dick,
R-808's aren't normally microphonic. There was something unusual amiss with 
the one that you had. And you did really give it away.

I wouldn't argue between uncommon and scarce for the R-808. However, since 
the only manual that covered it is the huge one on AN/MRC-55, I built one. 
As I've sold 29 copies of it, there are some of the receivers around. I've 
had several myself. On the other hand, no one ever asked me whether I had a 
manual on the AN/SRR-11/12/13 or AN/FRR-21/22/23 and I've never had any of the 
receivers.
