[Milsurplus] Offended by "Ham-mered?"

Think that's true of everything, been a bit of a motor head in the past and bought and sold a bunch of cars. If you want to see how anything can be screwed up just takes some time to look on a used car lot. Not the big ones but the corner lots.
I have been spending lots of time removing shoddy body work on my M151A1, people who use bondo and window screen or wooden paint stirrers as a base for body work should be shot. Or the people who pile bondo on three quarters of an inch thick over a dent that you can easily pound out, no shoddy poor quality or hack jobs are not just limited to the Ham radio world but occur everywhere and maybe that's what separates the craftsmen from the hack and if there were no hacks how would you tell the difference.

I have always believed that every old radio has had one owner it shouldn't have had.

I've been told a couple of people are "offended" by
my description of a piece of gear which has suffered
the usually pointless, needless application of
"the golden screwdriver"
as having been "Ham-mered."
Well, when I remove the bottom cover of a 70-year-old
war veteran and expect to see the nicely-laced
wiring harness and other details of craftsmanship,
like this:

and instead, what I see is this:

it's just a bit much.... a bit.
Why for Pity's sweet sake cut all the lacing out and
leave this spider web??
Although most of us *including me* were guilty of this
sort of "sin" in our youths and would not do so now,
I think my use of the term "Ham-mered"
entirely justified. That's the only word that describes
what's happened to this poor modulator.
