Our local Cold War museum has a very large loading coil used with a
former LF antenna but housed in a fiberglass case approx. 7ft high by 6
ft long and 5 ft wide.
The fiberglass hut was hit by lightning at some point and has a foot
diameter hole in the roof. The coil has been sitting there for about 50n
years but its not known how long ago the hut was hit.

In order to remove the coil which sits in an abandoned farmer's field it
is necessary to disinfect it so no insects or bugs are brought into the
main museum. The coil is wound with Litz wire about 3/16" in dia and
spacing filled with cotton string. Other than appearing somewhat ragged
and dusty it doesn't appear contaminated within and creepy crawlies.

Any suggestions for cleaning /sanitizing the coil. Compressed has been
suggested. Anyone have experience with same.
Thanks

Ralph

p.s. the coil is about 6 ft high and 3 ft in dia.
