Actually, the first Signal Corps Order for AN/GRC-9 was placed before VJ 
Day.  Order number 53906-PHILA-45.  From the number, it was likely placed in 
May or June of 1945 (the Federal Fiscal Year then began on 01 July).  
However, it is highly unlikely that any of them made it to using troops before the 
end of the War.  However, the DY-88 didn't appear until later (1948 or 49).  
The PE-237 weighs a ton.  I hope that I have lifted my last one!  :-)
