There was a mention of a turbo-prop powered version of it in Wikipedia.
Also, a jet-engined version, both one-offs. There were photos of both in the
Wikipedia article.
The jet-powered version, later renamed the B-60, was in competition for the
B-52, but the Boeing version was a better airplane, so it was chosen instead.
And another, the B-36H, I think, in which a nuclear reactor was carried as a
test, but never used to power the airplane.
I also have read about a 6000 HP P&W engine. Only one was built and
tested. It is in a museum now somewhere. It put out the specified HP, and
was, apparently, very reliable. Power to weight ratio was "adequate", but it
was so huge that nothing at that time was a suitable airplane for it.
Besides, jets and turbo-props output at least as much HP and were lighter,
so it was really no longer needed.
