I think that Fantasy Camp is an unfortunate name for the experience. I am a private pilot. You can never explain flight to anyone, they have to experience it. I have a lot of friends whose fathers were in the air force in WWII. They have told me before that they wonder what their fathers faced. What it was like to be in that plane? I think that the warbird flight can give them a little taste of what it was like for dad in those planes. A friend's father was a B-17 pilot in Europe. He passed away when she was ten. He left her a shoebox of photos from the war. Five years ago she got her ride in a B-17. She said that it answered a lot of questions about her fathers "war life" and provided some closure. For me, its the old planes, the history and those deep breathing radials.
