Some thoughts on the survival radios-
1- I'm puzzled that the radio appears so infrequently in 'official' military
photos of survival equipment supplied with liferafts or even in photos of
equipment dropped to
survivors.
2-One of the old Radio News mentioned some kind of loose-knit honorary club
or association of survivors who had actually used the radio to summon help.
I mentioned
this item once before here and may have cited the date, page, and magazine.
3-A similar magazine had a very brief article on the 'new radio' being
developed? or contemplated? and that it would have THREE operational
frequencies,
500 kHz, 4240 ( I think - someone here will remember the first HF frequency
decided on ), and 8480 ( double the other.
4-I think the first production, or the first production prototype, operated
on two frequencies, the 500 and 8480 ( which was settled on 8364 )

How's this, from memory, square with facts others here know?
