There was an interesting attempt to make MF two-way communications for rescue possible with the SCR-578-* as the transmitter.  The Setchell-Carlson dry-battery-powered Model 591 195-420 kHz receiver was given the JAN nomenclature of AN/CRR-1 to serve as the companion receiver.

I found one NOS ten years ago.  The only place the JAN nomenclature shows up is in the instruction book.
