[Milsurplus] 1953 airborne RTTY unit

Here's an interesting manual I recently got via eBay -

This is a modified Navy CV-57/URR (normally 455kc IF input) receiving
converter modified to 300kc input to work with AN/ARC-21 or
R-224/ARR-36.

The modification also adds a RTTY keyer on the rear of the CV-57 for
output to the ARC-21 transmitter. It outputs 100kc with 425 cps shift
but I assume there is a doubler in the ARC-21 somewheres for 850
shift.

Accompanying equipment in the complete system comprises
TT-4A/TG(XC-5) modified teletypewriter
AN/ARC-21 receiver-transmitter
R-224/ARR-36 auxiliary receiver

Dunno what this was used for - (XA-4) implies one of several prototypes.....
