Ralph, it is not uncommon for email list systems to have this problem when there is an outbound email routing problem. One inbound email causes hundreds of outbound emails (one to each subscriber) and if there is a problem delivering these, they can get "bounced." Luckily, this seems to be a rare occurance on this list, but that could have been the cause

Ralph:
I got your message. When I got the "bounce notice" this morning, I just followed the directions on the email. It appears to have worked since I got your most recent email.

For some unknown reason the remailer system sent a large number of users, perhaps all of our subscribers the following around 2:20 AM this morning.
Your membership in the mailing list Milsurplus has been disabled due to excessive bounces The last bounce received from you was dated 03-Oct-2015.
My subscription was disabled and I am the administrator. My inbox was flooded with system notices this morning while it was busy disabling all of the accounts. In all of the years running this list i have NEVER seen this happen before to a massive list of people.
If the system gets numerous bounces from a subscribers email address it will disable the account. This way if a subscribers email account goes away the system will eventually remove it. The server evidently was getting bounces from all emails it sent out. Definitely a problem on their side.
If you were disabled the system sent you an email stating this. It gave you two simple ways to reenable the account. It takes two mouse clicks. It will send you two more emails with a chance to reenable your subscription. If you don't after the third time it will delete the subscription. After that you will have to subscribe manually on the website.
I do realize if everyone has been disabled it might be awhile before you read this!
Welcome back and sorry for any inconveniences. It wasn't anything you did.
I want to take this opportunity to say thanks to all subscribers for being a friendly and super informative group of military radio collectors!
