[Milsurplus] SCR 269 or ARN-7 ADFs on USCG vessels? No doubt

Found more photos that leave no doubt about the loop type. LP 21 for sure. https://sites.google.com/site/scr269onuscgvessels/ Surely there must be some old Coasties in the ham ranks who know the scoop on this. 


Need to further investigate to see if the rcvrs installed on the CG boats were converted to enable taking bearings on the 2-3 MHz marine band. The ARN-6 to ARN-44 conversion did this for USCG and RCAF aircraft. Was there a similar military conversion applied to BC-433 or R-5 ARN-7 rcvrs? A civilian conversion for the BC-433 did exist and I saw it installed on commercial fishing boats in the 1960s. Thanks to the generosity of Jack Antonio I have one of the civvie control boxes, which is a real work of art. Looks stock, but band 3 covers 2-3 MHz using a beautifully done custom made dial.
