Friends, I was again triaging paper tonight, trying to avoid hurting my
back
or gut while moving heavy boxes, and came across a couple curios.
One, a prelim manual for the SCR-240-A / SCR-260-A. A Westinghouse radio
that was apparently not bought by the USAAF. No pictures, only some
very basic line drawings in the manual. The other is a Hoffman Radio
catalog, undated, listing war surplus equipment and parts for purchase by
"jobbers", which I believe means middlemen between Hoffman and surplus
stores?
Some prices I noted, going by memory:
HS-30 headphone $0.12
ARB complete setup $35
ARB receiver only $29
ATC trans $50
ART-13 trans $120
BC-348 $52
MN-26 $75
BC-653 $100
BC-433 $35
RAX $21
didn't see much if any of ground radios. Interesting; I'll have to try to
see if there's a hint of a date in there. As you can see, the prices seem
to
be
like 1947; some of these particular prices dropped drastically in
following
years.
It occurred to me it mght be fun to have some surplus catalogs scanned
online.

I pulled out some TTY manuals which I will be offering here free. I am
keeping probably only a "Teletype Fundamentals" manual, which shows some
of the equipment. Or maybe I'll offer it too. Anyone interested in
military
1940s teletype manuals?
