Thank you for all the tips. Very instructive.
I proceeded conservatively. I cleaned the finish with GoJo, which worked very well. I've used that stuff in the past on smooth-surface boatanchors with very good reuslts. After the surface was clean, I used a light application of WD-40 and the finish looks very good.
Again, thank you for all your help.

For moderately dirty radios I first clean with Windex using a soft paint brush. This is effective for dirt & light grease/oil and even light nicotine deposits. If the grime is heavier I'll use Simple Green instead. The paint at this point is usually pretty dull.
Following a wipe down with distilled water and though time to dry I then use Orange Glo furniture polish/cleaner. It will bring the luster back to the paint and will remain nice for several years. When it starts to get a few dull areas a cloth dampened with Orange Glo restores it with a quick wipe down.

What do you folks use to clean and polish black wrinkle finishes? At hamfests, some of these old sets look brand new.
