I know it's not radios but it's something that has completely blown my mind! Being that I have been playing around with government surplus for years, indeed decades there are some things that you just assume that they are this way and always will be. In the nineties and beyond we saw a real effort to destroy anything that was not dual use that was released thru the DRMO that caused the stupid and often needless destruction of an entire generation of communications equipment. Some radios like the AN/GRC-106 and a lot of the Harris stuff somehow got out but much has been destroyed. All of this at least in my mind goes back to the days of the M151 jeep sales when for safety reasons it was decided that all M151 would be cut into sections before release, or de-milled. My M151A1 has suffered that fate and was welded back together. Things like the Dodge M-880 or the later Chevy Diesel stuff like the M-1008 and the countless numbers of M-1009 that's been released are considered dual use and have been sold by the modern government partners who conduct the online sales now like Government Liquidators dot com and I know that I have bought items from them in the past and am familiar with their operation and procedures. A year or so back GL.com lost the contract for selling wheeled vehicles and being that I usually don't look at vehicles was no big deal for me to find out who the new government partner was until the other day. The new government partner for selling vehicles is a company called Govplanet dot com and this is the part that amazes me they are selling M998 Humvees that are complete and do not have to be de-milled. There is the caveat that you do have to sign a liability release and the vehicle can only be used for off road but this is the first time I have seen them up for sale directly from the federal government where they did not have to be destroyed. If you're interested in buying surplus directly hear are a couple web sites that may be of interest:

http://www.govplanet.com/ Think they are part of the overall Iron Planet operation. I have no dealing with them myself; only just saw their web site a couple days ago.

http://www.govliquidation.com/ not the easiest company to work with but they are big. Somehow they always have tons of stuff for sale in the NJ, MD and PA aria. I have bought several lots form the Tobyhanna Naval depot located near Harrisburg. Why is there a huge Navy facility in the middle of PA?

https://www.govdeals.com/ Mostly State and local government surplus, but a lot of GSA stuff ends up going thru this web site. They have been trying to pawn off the Maryland State Police Euro copters for some time now, every month they relist them for $50,000.00 less. Think they are listed at a starting bid of $175,000.00 now.

http://gsaauctions.gov/gsaauctions/gsaauctions/ Mixed bag of federal and state, and they have a bridal sale this weekend! This company always has real-estate for sale like the
Former Non-Directional Beacon in Sidney, ME, or lighthouses or weird things like that.
