".....also the poor serviceability of the Lear radio equipment was to cause
many abandoned missions. To keep these radios operational, wireless
operators were taught
to make in-flight repairs, and even though the standing order was to return
to base should the radios fail during flight, as time passed, the airmen
largely disobeyed
that directive."

I think this must mean Lear commercial small-plane radio. If the operators
could repair in flight, I think that would have to mean connector or fuse
problems.

"The Restoration", David J. Bean, 2002. About recovery in Iceland of a
wrecked Northrup N-3PB flown by Norwegian Air Force on antisubmarine
patrols.
Amazing that a plane could be rebuilt ( remanufactured! ) from such junk.

This book is actually TOO long. Too many lists of contributors, thank-you
notes, reproduced illegible letters, lists of 'diving team members' etc.
etc.
